Below is Entertainment Weekly's list of the top 100 movies of the last 25 years. Go through their list, bold the ones you have seen and underline the ones you own on video or DVD.
I went to see my De Anza counselor today to file for my A.A. She informed that I was short on credits. I am currently short one half credit of P.E. Are you kidding me? That's hilarious. So basically this means this summer I will be taking P.E. for the first time since 8th grade. I could be really upset about this but I am choosing not to. I am going to laugh instead. I mean if this happened to somebody else, I would laugh. Behind their back maybe but still. Anyways yea, it's annoying at most. But I deserve this, I was just saying the other day that I needed more physical exercise. The universe says "Ta da! Here you go son, physical exercise comin at ya!" But hey, I am going to pass math. That is still insane to me. Passing college level math courses, wacky.
Other than that silliness things are going well. I finally vocalized how tired I have been lately, burnt really. So, Chrysa and I have taken it easy this "weekend." Rented a few movies, got massages and just hung out. It's not over yet, but it has been a good couple of days. I am happy. Plus, Chrysa made south beach approved carrot cake. God damn I can taste it already. That's all folks!
Leave a comment and I will pick three of your interests and three of your icons I would like you to explain. Post them in your journal and allow others to comment and request the same.
Interests: 1) Timbaland- The greatest music producer alive...He got his start with rap artists Magoo and Missy Elliot. The first album he produced on his own (not simply doing a couple tracks as a DJ) was Ginuwine's "The Bachelor." He really exploded on the scene after working with acts like Aaliyah, Jay-Z, Nas, and Destiny's Child. He became known for infusing eastern style beats and music into rap and hip hop. Things like sitars and such... His work shot into the stratosphere however after he hooked up with former boy band member Justin Timberlake for his single "Cry Me A River." This continued with JT's latest album "Futuresexlovesounds" and Timbaland's own solo effort "Shock Treatment." He seems to now be branching out past the hip hop and r & b scene, as he is currently working with Madonna and Coldplay.
2)Comic Books- This is such a vast topic isn't it? I can't say that I am an avid collector or anything. I used to be more into it when I was younger. I even had a subscription to The Amazing Spider-man for a few years. Spidey was always my favorite. But in general I am more of an anti-hero type of guy. Give me Wolverine and the Punisher way over Superman. I like my heroes complicated. Lately, I have been more into the adult world of comics (not like that). Just more mature. Like Frank Miller's Sin City, and "The Sandman," by Neil Gaiman.
3) Reel Big Fish- This was a surprise. How does a person see band names on my interests and not ask about Skankin' Pickle? Anyways, Reel Big Fish is a ska band that has been around for over a decade, since 1996. They got very popular in 1997 with the ironically titled "Sell Out" In my opinion after "Why Do They Rock So Hard?" released in '98, they went severely downhill. Three original members left and they fazed a lot of the horns out. That, in my opinion, makes them not really ska at all, more pop. But hey, what can I say, commercially they did better after this point. In 2006, they were dropped from Jive Records so they promote themselves now, like any good ska band should! But for me, I will always remember seeing them play live at Slim's. You haven't lived if you haven't heard their cover of A-ha's "Take on Me."
Icons:
1) Pansy- This one was at burning man...hence the very long hair and toplessness. As I recall, one of the artists we were bunking with Steph painted me up with the pansies and Chrysa matched the flower in my hair.
2) Moose- Another hot day at Burning Man. Heat makes me a little crazy. This was actually inside the rented RV, our only solace during the blistering midday.
3)Olethros- This is a picture of Destruction, my character from "The Sandman." Olethros is one of his names, I believe it is the Greek version.
Can I really do this? I am auditioning for Shady Shakes' shows this year again but I just don't know. Because although they are summer shows, the last month of school and the first month of rehearsals coincide. Which means I will have work, school, and rehearsal at the same time. But I do really miss theatre. But I really really have to finish off strong in this class. It is the only one of the three math classes where the grade actually counts (college transferable).
But I know myself, if I don't audition, I will seriously be kicking myself as I watch the shows this summer and grumble about them. Isn't that fucked up? It is really hard for me to watch theatre without mentally putting myself on stage. What a fucking ego. I think a lot of it is because Shady is still about 50% "friends doing Shakespeare." Better than the 100% it started with, but still. The flip side of that is maybe that's why I keep getting parts with Shady Shakes.
I do already have monologues picked out and memorized and an audition type reserved. It would be seriously ridiculous to not at least audition.
Anyway, not sure what I want as a response, but I don't know... a little encouragement I guess. This really seems to be dragging me down and it should be picking my energy up
Hey have any of you all decided that you just don't care? Don't give a good god damn? Well I have. Don't worry not in a bad way. Just about my journaling. It is the reason that I never post actually. I used to think, I have to post about something important, something relevant to the people who are reading my journal. Then today as I was reading other people's LJ's who do not adhere to this philosophy, I had an earth-shattering revelation Holy crap! This is MY JOURNAL, I can post anything I damn well please! So, that's it, you have had your fair warning. There may be sports, theatre, weird you tube clips and other randomness ahead. So there it is. Many posts will be short and there may not be as much introspection as I would like, but at least there will be more than one post per six months.
So here is my first random video post. This is awesome, especially if you are into rap at all...
The first five people to respond to this post, will get some form of art, by me, about them. I make no guarantees about quality or type, but I will assure that I will give it my best effort and that the art will be individual to you.
The only catch, of course; as with most memes, if you sign up, you have to put this in your own journal as well.
